Our interview with Sipho Malhangu and Jacob Mashishi from the National House of Traditional Leaders is the second of a series named “Indigenous Perspectives”. This series aim to offer to our Indigenous partners the opportunity to talk about one or several topics. The first interview was conducted in French and can be watched on the French version of Legitimus.ca.

Sipho Malhangu and Jacob Mashishi are linked to the Africa Group, and more specifically to the sub-project directed by prof. Chuma Himonga. Fatima Osman, junior researcher of the Legitimus project, is part of the same group. An interview with her was published earlier this week on Legitimus.ca. You can watch it here.

In their joint interview, Sipho Malhangu and Jacob Mashishi talk about the mission of the National House of Traditional Leaders and explain how their objectives meet those of the Legitimus project. They also explain the fact that all Indigenous peoples, although different, often face similar challenges.

The interview can be watched below. And if it makes you curious about the research project involving Sipho Malhangu and Jacob Mashishi, you will be pleased to know that an interview with prof. Chuma Himonga will follow in the next few days.
